Art Alive
Art Alive is an art-based program designed to facilitate opportunities to practice social skills within a coached/ instruction-based environment. This program is great for those benefiting from more support & coaching following Conversation Cues.
Around Town
Increase independence with moving around Thunder Bay. As this is a large skill, needs may vary. Some examples of program targets could include: navigating sidewalks & intersections, planning your route, Reaching destinations within the city using transit, social rules & etiquette for using transit and traveling with members of the public
Caring for Myself
This program helps participants discuss one’s motivation for hygiene routines. Teaching, modelling, and practicing focus on the following targets: Washing, Bathing and Showering, Dental Care, Toileting and Bathroom Etiquette, Bedroom/ Sleeping Area Organization, Privacy
The skills covered in Caring for Myself are the foundations of developing healthy relationships with others and strengthening relationships with family members.
Food with Friends
Join us in person, for a friendship-themed cooking program. Participants learn to cook and prepare food items to increase their independence and comfort in the kitchen. We will learn kitchen safety & hygiene, basic cooking skills, along with social activities each evening.
Participants will leave each session with new recipes to add to their collection, as well as items they have made to share with family & friends. Through exploring the social side of cooking, participants could use the recipes and skills learned to share with family and friends during a gathering.
Game On!
Practice and boost social skills weekly through games and activities. Each session will cover relevant social skills to enhance the social skill toolbox involving playing games with others. We will also focus on learning to play (the game, if required), following the game rules, and appropriately handling situations that occur while playing games.
Job Tips
Looking to join the workforce or begin volunteering? Get Job Ready with our job readiness program. Learn new skills or refresh some previously learned. The program will include activities, games, videos, and role-plays to help get you ready as you begin employment. During the sessions, each participant will create a resume, look for positions available, and experience an interview. Topics covered include;

Healthy Relationships & Sexuality Level 1-3

PEERS®
Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relationship Skills (PEERS®) is a social skills training intervention for youth. It is designed for motivated youth interested in learning ways to help them make and keep friends. They are taught essential social skills such as conversational skills, maintaining friendships, using humour appropriately, and handling disagreements. Teens have an opportunity to practice these skills through role-playing and other activities.
16 weeks of 1.5-hour sessions, for both teens and parents
Teens will learn how to:
Use appropriate conversational skills
Use humor appropriately
Use electronic communication
Enter & exit conversations
Be a good host during get-togethers
Be a good sport
